Over-the-counter medications may also provide relief. However, if symptoms persist, worsen, or are accompanied by severe pain or fever, it is important to consult a doctor. Medical treatments may include physical therapy, medications, or in some cases, fluid drainage or surgery.

Preventing knee swelling involves maintaining a healthy lifestyle and taking care of your joints. Regular exercise to strengthen muscles around the knee, maintaining a healthy weight, and using proper techniques during physical activities can reduce the risk. Wearing supportive footwear and avoiding overexertion also play a key role in prevention.
